Your school may be closed for an extended period due to several reasons, including a pandemic as we are experiencing now. Most of the academic curriculum allows teachers to assign enough homework students can submit online to last the duration because of technology-enabled tools. What about Physical Education? What do you do? How do you stay connected?
Welcome to PhysednHealth Digital PE Guide
PhysednHealth Student Dashboard was designed to keep students active at all times regardless of location or circumstances - Even during the summer. If you cannot directly communicate with your students, post instructions on how to access the Dashboard on your school website. How can PhysednHealth help?
How do you do all this? The ‘How Tos’ Can be found on our FAQ page under the Resources tab: https://app.physednhealth.com/Teacherpanel/Resources/faq
A WHOLE NEW DATA COLLECTION EXPERIENCE
More great tools to make your job easier
Today we are excited to launch one of our most requested tools and a new few features.
What it is: Playtime
For PE Teachers and coaches alike, you can now use our playtime tool to track how many minutes each students participated in a physical activity. We’ve gone a bit further by actually incorporating stats for a few sports to start with.
What it does:
Playtime is mobile friendly so whether you are on your mobile device, smartboard or laptop, Playtime will capture your stats effortlessly. In fact, let you students join in by having them tap they own name when they go in and out of an activity
Who’s Idea:
Jessica from KIPP DC – Thanks!
Where it is: Bottom of ‘My Tests’ page
How it works:
Simply click on playtime from the tools section at the bottom of ‘My Tests’ page. Type in the activity name and date; enter the duration of the activity; select activity type (‘other’ for general activities) select the students that are participating randomly, by class, by grade or by entering new names. Once the team is set, select the students that are starting the activity by clicking each name (in basketball for example, you would select five students). Once the starting line up is set, click start.
That’s it.
To substitute, click on the timer of the person getting off the activity and click on the timer of the person getting in. Playtime will track how many times a student was substitute and for how long; including how long the student was inactive for the period of the activity. If you are using one of the three sports, we have uploaded stats for, you can track stats one student at a time or the entire team in real-time. Enough said. Try it out and let us know what you think. What sports or activities would you like us to add next? Send an email at awesome@physednhealth.com.
Feature #1
What it is: Class size scaling
What it does: Sometimes as a result of small spaces or just a large group of students, you want to be able to test a few of them at the time without having to mark the rest as ‘Did not participate (DNP)’
Who’s Idea: Matt, Bridgeton Public Schools – Sonja, Calvert County Public Schools
Where it is: ‘My Tests’ (individual tests) and ‘Score Tests’ (top of page) menu options
How it works: Whether you are using our tools to collect your data, manual data entry or the ‘Score Tests’ page, you can select a subset of your students for testing by clicking on the student option from the class selection screen. For example, if I am testing push-ups, from My Tests page, I would select the push up test, then click on the action menu (three dots) next to a class name, select ’90 Push up tool’ or ‘Manual Scoring’. Click on ‘Student’ option on the next screen. You can select students from here or further filter by class. From ‘Score Test’ page, Click on ‘Filter Students’ on top of the page.
Feature #2
What it is: Reports filter for Pre Mid and Post by test type
What it does: This new filter allows you to compare the performance of your students for Pre Mid and Post all in one report than can be printed or exported
Who’s Idea: Matt, Bridgeton Public Schools
Where it is? Reports Page (below the legend, under the filter to select test)
How it works: From the Reports page, select the class or leave it as ‘All; for all your classes. Select a test from the drop down right below the legend. The print option is above the page to the right.
Feature #3
What it is: Multiple Mids
What it does: you can now create multiple Mids to improve tracking of your students’ progress and give them something to look forward to.
Who’s Idea: Not sure (maybe just us). We know you don’t like testing your students because it is too much work. We hope PhysednHealth has made tracking much easier. Hey, if you only have time for one Mid, let your students self test (every month?). That’s your multiple Mids. All you have to do is create a new mid every month, allow the students to score and assign it to them. Sit back and watch the scores come in from your reports page.
Where it is: ‘Score Test’ page
How it works: From the ‘Score Test’ page, click on the plus icon next to ‘Mid-Assessment’. Provide a title and a date. Save. Next step is to select that specific mid when scoring your tests. If you would like your students to self-test instead, go to ‘My Tests’ page, select a test, next to the test name, click on the action menu and select allow students to score, chose yes and then select the Mid you would like them to self-test for. When they log in, they will see that they have been assigned a mid for self-testing.
Feature #4
What is it: Are we missing anything that could be useful to you and others?
What it does: Help us improve PhysednHealth so it works for you
Who’s Idea: Yours
Where it is: Depends on your needs
How it works: if you have an idea on how to improve PhysednHealth, please send it to us and we will do our best to implement it in a timely manner for the benefit of our entire awesome PE Club Members
